Shimokitazawa Arts is pleased to present " how do you feel ? " solo exhibition by Amano Hinako. Amano Hinako was born in Tokyo, 1997. She got BFA in 2021 and MFA in 2023 from Musashino Art University, Fine Arts Course, Painting. She is an up-and-coming painter.
Amano paints animals such as monkeys, cows, and bears, women with delicate emotions such as brides, and everyday casual scenes as motifs. The great appeal of her works is their bold colors and powerful brushstrokes. When I look at her work, I feel that large and small masses of color born from Amano collide with the canvas, and that many explosions connect and overlap to create a shape. As a friend of Amano's pointed out, it's as if she makes shapes for the sake of color. In order to capture the wild life she sees in zoo animals, the burning love of a woman, the sparkle of everyday life, and the momentary heat and light in her paintings, Amano converts energy into color through her own body. and draw it out.
In this solo show, we will display works from Amano's time as an undergraduate student to the latest works, so that you can know a wide range of Amano's work so far. She says “I just put my fate on drawing freely what I want to draw.” Please take a look at the painting space filled with the raw energy of Hinako Amano's paints, which are analog colors.

Artist statement
There are many things I draw, but many of them seem to be interested in what I have experienced so far and what I still have in my head.
It may be my motivation to capture my own curiosity, interest, and emotions that cannot be preserved in photographs.
Now, when I face the screen, I put so vivid paints on the screen. At that time, I fell in love with the colors that were put on.
From there, in order to create another world within the canvas, I paint with the force of a punch, like boxing, and am beaten by the painting.
A lot of myself take turns and hit jabs, straights, and uppercuts.
After that, I gradually become friends with the painting, and end up saying, "This is good for both of us."
When I finish drawing, I see the traces that I have left behind that are surprising even to myself, and I always think, "I can do more."
And then it connects to the next screen, and I draw a picture again.
