Exhibition Announcement: Yuzuki Solo Exhibition “At the Kingdom's Edge” at Shimokitazawa Arts
Shimokitazawa Arts is pleased to present “At the Kingdom's Edge", a solo exhibition by the emerging artist Yuzuki.
Born in 2004 and currently enrolled in the Oil Painting Department at Tokyo University of the Arts since 2023, Yuzuki is a young artist garnering attention for her unique artistic vision and exceptional technique.
Yuzuki’s work leaves a powerful impression through its masterful portrayal of the human body, the raw flush of skin tones, and figures so deeply immersed in their own world that they seem unaware of the viewer’s gaze. Characters with eerie expressions, torn skin, and sharp blades evoke a sense of unease, while at the same time radiating a subtle warmth and brightness. This unique duality stems from Yuzuki’s creative focus: an admiration for those who, by freely expressing themselves, find themselves cast out of societal norms.
In addition to painting, Yuzuki continues to expand her practice across various media, including sculpture and manga, deepening her expressive capabilities while sincerely confronting her central themes.
We invite you to experience the current state of Yuzuki’s evolving universe—one that is both unsettling and tender, fragile yet bold.

Where is the edge, I wonder?
Where did the edge begin, I wonder?

Concept
I focus on those who have been ignored, unseen, and treated as if they never existed within the machinery of society. Through the perspective of Yoshizawa-kun — an elementary school student positioned at the lowest tier of the classroom hierarchy — I create works across various media to give voice to these marginalized existences.
