An art festival, Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa, will be held in Shimokitazawa from September 19 to October 5, 2025. Be sure to enjoy it as well!

On a night when the veil of moonlight embraces the garden.
We exchange secret words and weave the silence.
The music of the night spins a world unknown to anyone.
Shadows dance beneath the moonlight.
Guided by memory, flowers bloom in radiant glory.
When the full moon begins to drip,
Its drops quietly wet the garden, becoming dewdrops.
Fleeting memories and eternal longing.

Shinon Matsumoto
Originally from Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, currently 21 years old and a graduate of Bunka Fashion College, Tokyo.
Creates paintings using coffee dyeing techniques.
Her work is rooted in both fashion and art.
The varying shades of coffee dropped onto the canvas
cause the girl—painted in vivid colors and delicate textures—to gaze off into the distance.
Blurring the boundaries between girlhood and maturity, dream and reality,
the work draws the viewer into a bittersweet sense of nostalgia.
After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, she began her career as both a designer for the fashion brand "Shinon Matsumoto" and as a painter.
Coffee Beans Used
This work utilizes a technique called coffee dyeing.
The paintings are created using coffee beans that were originally destined to be discarded.
These beans come from Koishi Coffee, a coffee shop located in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan.
The coffee was generously provided by Koishi Coffee and had been used in the shop's early experimental roasting phase—before its official opening—as they worked to understand the characteristics of a new roasting machine. These bs played a crucial role in developing the foundation of the coffee they now serve.
At one point, they were facing the challenge of having a large volume of unused beans to dispose of. Through painting, those once-discarded beans have been given a new life.
